Cleveland CycleWerks introduces Tha Misfit.

Tha Misfit is an affordable, lightweight and Modern Café Racer for the US Market.  Available in March 2011, and distributed by CCW’s distribution partner PIT Motors Ltd.

Tha Misfit is Cleveland CycleWerks latest motorcycle release.  Tha Misfit is powered by a 250cc single cylinder motor, and is 49 state legal, we are waiting for California approval, and have passed EVAP testing.  MSRP is set at $3195, and the bike is positioned as an affordable alternative to the overpriced and over motored commuters currently on the market.

Cleveland, Ohio – November 24th 2010 – Cleveland CycleWerks is a small motorcycle company headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio USA.  CCW design’s and develops affordable motorcycles, and motorcycle parts.  Tha Misfit extends CCW’s product range with a beautiful, and affordable Café style motorcycle.  Set for release in the USA in March 2011, and distributed to dealers by PIT Motors LTD.  Tha Misfit is the answer to everyone out there that thought they could not afford a quality, beautiful and fun motorcycle, affordable priced with a MSRP of $3195.

Scott Colosimo, from CCW remarks,

“Ths Misfit is really the sort of Café bike that everyone attempts to build in their home shop.  Chopping out all the bullshit tabs and brackets that you don’t want and putting on all the cool components that you do.”  We think Scott is trying to say that CCW, being a small company can afford to build bikes in a more custom manner, with more control over the design and quality of the final product.  Scott adds “Being a small company, we build bikes that as enthusiasts, we want to ride, and this directly translates to the types of bikes that other enthusiasts and beginners can appreciate.”

Tha Misfit’s EVAP and EPA system was designed and has passed 50 state testing; we are just awaiting documentation from CARB.  Features include inverted forks, weighted bar-ends, dual-piston calipers front and rear, wave rotors front and rear, Progressive rate remote reservoir rear shocks, and many more details.  The rear seat is covered by a plastic cowl, (for a true café racer look) that can be removed to reveal a passengers seat, for two up riding.

Looks like a nice bike. You can do a lot with a 250, and it should get great gas mileage.Wish there was a dealer in the Pacific Northwest.

Just put a deposit on my misfit!!!! psyched. I had the chance to buy my buddies tricked out yamaha vstar 650 for the same price but opted for the misfit. I just don’t want a big bike. I’m looking for an in town commuter.
Can’t wait! I’ll post more after I get the thing!

o.k. Sorry so late guys on this review.
You can look back on the posts and see that I was waiting on the bike last year. I was in direct contact with scott and CCW and the guys at PIT. They were fantastic with communication (unlike me! ) and responsive at all times.
So, keep in mind this is my first bike after 20 years without one. Sold my Nighthawk 450 (84, I think?) back in college around 90-91.
Bottom line…. I LOVE my Misfit. I refuse to call it my “THA MISFIT” ha ha mostly because I’m old ! and that sounds funny to me , like spelling works with an ‘E”.
It handles liike the old nighthawk now that I think about it. I see it as kind of a sport cruiser. The suspension is tight yet comfy enough. The bike is very well built and doesn’t have a cheap feel although it’s obviously very light.
I get so many complements on this bike! The best was… ” now that’s what a motorcycle is supposed to look like!”
You guys are all aware of the expectations for a 250. I think they did a good job with the gear ratio so that it has decent pep off the line and really is great at my typical speed ranges on the mean streets of Miami between 30 and 60 mph. I regularly ride on the highway and feel very stable at 75 although it starts tapping out after 80 MPH. I may have hit 90 once.
The bike has been greatly reliable and I love the feel.
      I’ll go over the cons:
Rust has beeen a problem as I’m 10 blocks from the ocean.
      Brake squeals a bit .
The bottom bushing was creaking like a bed in a whorehouse untillI greased the thing.
The front brake went mushy and my local wrench fixed that no problem under warranty.
The headlight went out after 6 months and is a scooter headlight as my mechanic was surprised to find! It’s been fine since.
The head/ steeerer tube (I’m a cyclist so I’m using bicycle terminology) Is “sticky ” and I was told theey did a redesign for the 2013 that eliminated this issue. PIT is working with my mechanic to get this changed for me.
Chain slap. I think chain is a bit sub-par and it”s stretching to frequently. But remember… I’m no expert.
Battery. On it’s way out after just 3500 miles.
      So there’s the story.
Just my impresions , guys. I bought the Misfit to have a commuting bike 6 miles to work and back in Miami where traffic and parking are a bitch. It’s served me beautifully and I think it will for a long time. Great looking and feeling ride. I’m happy whenever I’m riding her and that’s the most important thing I can say. This bike has the “x” factor!
The ccompany and distributor have been nothing but awesome. I’m lucky as they selected hurricane cycles in Miami Beach as the dealer and warranty shop. This shop and Bill Raney who runs it are top notch for anyonee reading this in So Fl.
Also., I should mention. The dealer I bought it from, Tempest cycles, in Palm bay Fl. Were great and built me a custom rear rack to mount a rack bag . Needed somewhere to put groceries! I’ll post pics of my rig , if anyone’s interested. Highly recommended if you actually use the bike to do chores or take your lady out for a picnic ! HAHA

Hey guys. The bike is in process of delivery. The guys at cleveland cycle werks answered my email within hours advising me of the expected delivery which is 3-4 weeks from now, so early December. My closest dealer is about 3 hours away through tempest cycles in Palm Bay , Fl. They’re delivering to me for 100 bucks. You guys can expect my immediate impressions the same day I get the bike. I have no blog but, as Thiago stated, I’ll be doing a thorough write-up from initial impressions and on through when I put some significant time on the bike. I know a lot of you are curious. Me too!

Curious to hear how the bike is holding up. I am very interested in this bike but don’t want to get it if it is made poorly or falls apart.

Hey all. The latest is that the bike is now at the Florida dealership and we’re drawing up the title papers. I’ll probably get the bike sometime next week, so give me about two weeks to make a first impressions report. To address Noel’s latest post, I see no reason to think it’s poorly made when you look at the really tight operation CCW seems to run. The fact that the owner of the company has been personally supervising (actually being at the factory in china for 6 months overseeeing it’s production), gives me the confidence to take the first plunge. Someone’s got to do it? right? What motorcycle brand can you buy that you can personally email it’s owner??? Not many!
So, I’ll have an initial report within no more than 3 weeks max, god willing and the creek don’t rise,
    Mike
